Kayaking throug the Mangroove Forests
A great way to discover the mangroove forests is by kayak. It is an ecological and colorful adventure with your family or friends to explore the secrets of the lagoons of Mauritius and other islands and small channels and hidden beaches.
The day begins at the Winners supermarket in Goodlands, where you will be picked up by a minibus. In a small bay. everyone gets his equipment: paddles, life jacket, a small bottle of water and if not available a mask with a snorkel. Thereafter, the instruction is in French and English by an experienced guide, which will be security measures, paddle signals and paddletechnic. It can be selected single or double Kayaks, but with little knowledge you can easily select a single kayak.
Paddling through the heart of the mangrooves of the island of Ile D’Ambre you can escape in a world of peace and tranquility, away from everyday stress. Therefore, you will be asked by the guide to turn off your cell phone during the tour. This island is unspoilt and even if it is very windy at the coast between the mangrooves it is almost windless. There is also the opportunity to snorkel, to explore the underwater world and swim with the fish. It feels like being in a huge aquarium. We were able to eat algae and were rewarded with a fresh pineapple.
Then we went back into the kayak and on to beautiful bays to the peacefull island Bernache. Here you can visit ruins from the 18th Century and explore the history of the island.Similarly, you can grab a view of a water-filled volcanic crater, and learn about amazing plants and their vital role in the ecological system, the provenance of various plants and animals, and which of these species are originally. One of the few native birds is the Picpic, which youcan listen to. After many fascinating impressions your get a snack with delicious juice and chocolate cake on the island.
Finally, you can paddle through crystal-clear lagoons to Melville Island with views of the Coin de Mire. This island is a veritable paradise for birds, although they may not be entered, as the whole island is a nature reserve. It reminds the shape of the island of a triangular sail that appears from the sea.
The tour ends at a beautiful beach. From there we drove to the hotel is Legends, where are directly a taxi and a bus station.
